With a splash of South Asian color in the throw pillows and drapes set against sleek black couches, the Shahzads' living room looked like millions of others across the United States.
Broker Frank Del Vecchio says the house was always kept neat and clean. Shahzad stopped making payments on the house in June 2009, the same month he left for Dubai and then Pakistan. His mortgage lender had foreclosure papers served three months later.
