1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
First introduced in 1970 as a full-size car, the Monte Carlo had been downsized to a mid-size by the time the last rear drive model appeared in 1988. Its design was aging, model variations had been eliminated, and the 5.0 liter V-8 produced a mere 180 horsepower. The Monte Carlo name was revived in 1995 for a 12-year run as a two-door version of the front-wheel-drive, Lumina but it was only a pale imitation.
