The successor to the rotary powered RX-7, the RX-8 introduced the Wankel engine to a new generation of drivers. More practical than a Miata thanks to two rear pocket doors, the RX-8 suffered from its unusual styling and the Wankel's performance limitations. The Miata soldiers on, but emissions regulations and the expensive yen have doomed the RX-8.
