When Japanese cars were still gaining a U.S. foothold, the Prelude was a sensation, appearing on ten-best lists. But it failed to evolve, and Honda's attention turned to higher volume models. After a 23-year run, the Prelude disappeared from its lineup, due to tiny sales and sharper competition from -- among others -- its own stable mates, the Civic and Accord coupes.
