Lately, Air France has focused on expanding its reach so customers can fly to more locations. The company has been putting more planes in the air, and thanks to partnerships it struck with Delta and Alitalia, it's offering easier connections in Atlanta, Rome and other cities.
After the Japan earthquake, Air France added more seats on flights between Paris and Tokyo in response to increased demand, and cut the cost of fares on flights out of Tokyo.
Air France has a young fleet of efficient planes, and it plans to boost its capacity for the summer travel season. It will have to tread carefully as it expands, though. Most airlines got back in the black this year by doing just the opposite -- slashing routes and decreasing the frequency of flights.
