Carolyn Everson, 39
VP, Global marketing solutions, Facebook

Everson was nine months into a new stint as global head of ad sales at Microsoft when Sheryl Sandberg came calling. Would she leave to take a similar role at Facebook? Everson jumped. She now runs the social-networking site's ad business from New York. Her secret? Don't sweat the small stuff. "My twins were born at 27 weeks and had a 30% chance of survival," she says. "When you go through something like that, you try to have a healthy perspective on life."
