General Electric is having a tough time finding the right workers to fill some its new green jobs. GE is currently looking for an entry-level technician to repair and maintain wind turbines in Stoney Creek, Penn.
While mechanical and electrical skills are a must, this position is unique because it requires workers to climb towers up to 300 feet, lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions. Plus, the jobs are typically located in remote locations, where wind farms reside.
That said, the right candidates don't need much experience -- just a related associates degree or three years in the electrical repair field. GE provides four weeks of additional technical training at its Learning Center in Schenectady, NY.
