As memory cards get more powerful, the 16GB card just doesn't stack up to the rest anymore. So the price is dropping significantly.

"They're just getting better at making them, so at this point the 16GB is almost obsolete," said Pinsker. "You're going to pay $40-something for a 42 gigabyte card, but only $12 for this."
