Because we're an innovation consultancy, there isn't an already existing pool of candidates for us to draw from.

That's driven us to adopt an approach to hiring that's as unique as our business model. One of the many exercises we've created to help us evaluate candidates is "You in a Bottle."

Candidates are asked to pick the most defining aspect of what makes them them, and use it as inspiration to create a new product for a beverage brand. Thinking about yourself as a product requires lateral thinking. But it also requires people to understand or distill their essence into something they'd want to bottle.

And it's precisely that blend of commercial strategy and creative thinking that we're looking for in candidates. --C.W.
