Fake perfumes can literally stink. Counterfeiters spend more time copying the packaging than the scent, which spells trouble for those who buy a phony fragrance.

Not only will the fragrance be different from the authentic perfume, but without the quality standards and controls, "all kinds of things can be in there that you do not want to be spraying on your body," Randazzo cautioned.
