Located 120 miles from New York City in the western Catskills, French Woods offers 20 programs that focus on music, theater, circus arts, dance, magic and more.
Started in 1972, the camp has become one of the world's largest arts-focused camps, said director David Weinstein.
It's a "performing arts mecca," he said.
The camp brings in experts so kids can immerse themselves in the craft, said Weinstein.
French Woods enrolls close to 700 students each summer. "We've been very lucky," said Weinstein about enrollment. "We think we will be a little ahead of last year."
Famous former French Woods campers include Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, who was in the camp's rock and roll program in the early '90s, said Weinstein.
