Social media used: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Yammer, internal and external blog Intuit follows an aggressive social media policy from its external customer support work on Twitter to internal idea sharing. Evolving from traditional customer support, Intuit's @TeamTurboTax draws upon product managers and engineers to tackle customers' problems. Intuit says that when the tax season comes around, employees throughout the pipeline volunteer to contribute to the customer feedback.
Internally, Intuit has a news portal, SNAP, within its proprietary intranet. Employees can share news stories, discuss them, and even send pieces to friends and family. Internal blogs and Yammer also keep Intuit workers connected, through Yammer groups such as one for members of a "high potential" leadership program to connect outside their hands-on training. A group of younger employees also recently built Brainstorm, a collaboration tool for posting ideas and getting them up the pipeline. Posts can be pushed to appropriate managers and also appear on the intranet homepage. Intuit says Brainstorm's success has even led it to sell the idea-sharing product externally as one of its products.
