The results of WPP and Millward Brown's annual ranking of the top brands in China highlights a shift in power away from state-owned enterprises.
Tencent is a giant: its shares have soared 10,500% since 2004, and the company now boasts a $103 billion market cap. The company does everything from online games to search, software development, mobile gaming, e-commerce and instant messaging.
By far the biggest gainer in the top 10, Tencent's brand value jumped 68% over last year to reach $33.8 billion.
