1995: The Boeing 777

In 1995, Boeing's new widebody airliner, the 777 -- shown here in a file photo -- was one of the stars of the show.

Having just entered service with airlines that year, the plane boasted an extremely long range for a twin-engine jet.

The 777 was created to replace the oldest four-engine 747s, and went head-to-head against the new Airbus four-engine international airliners that burned more fuel.
