2011: The world's longest airliner

Boeing's 747-8 'Intercontinental' is touted as the "world's fastest" and longest commercial jet and thrilled Paris with its first air show visit in 2011.

Boeing said the plane boasts a maximum speed of 86% of the speed of sound. It's also huge: about 12 feet longer than the world's biggest airliner, the Airbus A380. The A380 still holds the title as world's largest with two full decks of passengers.
