Kind of JetBlue
By Stanley Bing

(FORTUNE Magazine) – I was seated halfway back Going out of the blue and into the black When Beth came down the aisle with my snack. "What will you have?" she said.

"I'll have the Munchies," I replied, "With two biscotti on the side." She looked at me, all crisp and snide. "Why not just have them all?" she said.

This was rather strange and rude. A JetBlue dude with attitude? No comfort with the comfort food? Who makes you wanna cry?

She dipped her hand into the basket As if it were an open casket And looked like she might blow a gasket Straight between my eyes.

Later she made quite a scene Over her New York magazine Which I took into the latrine For a brief peruse.

Perhaps Beth has had better days. Perhaps her mind was in a haze Or her alignment out of phase That's how she lost her schmooze.

I hope the next time I'm ascending My soul above the hard ground pending Some other person is attending Me throughout my flight.

It's hard enough to say goodbye To those you yearn to keep close by To mope and moan and heave and sigh Into the airless night

Then here's this person wants to kill you? When all you want's some junk to fill you? And for this pleasure they still bill you? It isn't fair or right!

The sad thing, I submit to you is, How unlike this of JetBlue is! Each red-eye what we learn anew is--At service, they're the best!

How often have they warmed my cockles As I sit with whitened knuckles And my seat belt tightly buckled, Heart pounding in my chest.

And here they come with nuts and cheeses Smiles and pillows, thanks and pleases, Who cares how constrained our knees is, Or our butts compressed!

They are there to ease our bones With chips of blue and Lorna Doones Blessed workers, never drones! Sweet miles above the rest!

So Beth, consider how you feel About your job and that whole deal And if you cannot keep it real? Oh--fly for America West!
