My Idea of Fun
(FORTUNE Magazine) – BRUCE KARATZ CEO, KB Home The homebuilder got hooked on motorcycles after riding his brother's Harley ten years ago (he ordered his own the next morning). You'll find him cruising Southern California on his Harley V-Rod. LEADING THE PACK "For a large group of riders, my rule of thumb is a guide for every ten riders. They'll help lead and mark intersections where there's a turn." CHILL OUT "Riding should never be a race. It's about an opportunity to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. I don't make it competitive." MAP QUEST "Know where you're going so you have an idea about where you will fill up your tank. It's not good to run out of gas on some country road." LOOK THE PART "You've gotta have tattoos. Kidding! The thought of pins in my skin does not sit well, and I wouldn't want to encourage my kids." AND ANOTHER THING ... "Full helmets are safer than something that might look cool. I always ride with a Nolan N100E flip-up model. If the glass is down, it keeps bugs off my face. But I often put it up so that I can feel the wind." From the September 4, 2006 issue
