Road warrior For this traveler, skin is always in
(FORTUNE Magazine) -- If anyone knows how to stay in top form on the road, it's Lynne Greene. A 19-year Estée Lauder veteran, she recently took over as the new president of the Clinique division, where she's responsible for the brand's operations in more than 130 countries. Clinique has been a staple since the 1960s - its 3-Step Skin Care System is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art - but Greene's job is to keep the cosmetics brand young. We caught up with her recently in New York City. Days on road 100. Favorite way to fly My favorite airline, bar none, is Singapore Airlines. I walked into the Singapore club once in Shanghai and said, "I wish I could find out if my bags actually made the flight," and one of the employees looked at me and said "Oh, Ms. Greene, I'd be happy to tell you that!" Best hotel Claridge's in London. Out-of-the-way restaurant There's a place in Beijing called the Green T. House. They change the configuration of the furniture every evening - you feel as if you're walking back in time to the 1920s. Favorite dish Grand Marnier shrimp from Chin-Chin in New York. I can eat only about three pieces because it's so rich. Travel ritual I make sure that I have Clinique Moisture Surge with me to use on the plane. And I enjoy absolutely nothing more in my life than getting off a plane and washing my face. Essential gear My suitcase, made by Advance, is fire-engine red. I bought it in Tokyo. When it comes out of the baggage chute, I am stress-free - there's not another case on the carousel that could possibly look like this. |
