BOOKING A TRIPLE PLAY
(FORTUNE Magazine) – Last year "unmanaged" business travel hit a new high. Translation: Unless you work at some big honking company, chances are you're stuck booking your own trips. (And if you own your own company, paying for them too.) Make life easier—and save a few bucks—by booking packaged deals through one of the major online travel sites. For a two-day trip from Dallas to Chicago, for example, the airfare was $449 on American, the hotel was $149 per night at the Hyatt Regency, and the car was $75 per day plus tax from Hertz. Booked as a package on Travelocity, it cost $251 less. (It's a great tool for vacations too.) Orbitz even introduced a site in February specifically tailored for "road warriors." It will suggest business hotels, make restaurant reservations, and even send a car to take you to the airport. If only it did your expense report too. |
