When we last met Jack Evans ("Fast and Furious," October), he was appealing a negative ruling he'd received in a $600 million suit against GM, which he accused of stealing his design for a cooling system. Late last year, he won a consolation prize. A Connecticut court ordered GM to pay him $556,000 because one of its employees falsified evidence.

How will the ban on Ephedra affect Wellness International Network ("The Ephedra Empire," September)? The multilevel marketer didn't return our calls, but spokesperson Shannon Camp told the Houston Chronicle that WIN is developing a new version of its flagship weight-loss product with chemicals that will produce similar effects to Ephedra.

Wilting Flowers?

In December's "Flowers That Pop," we profiled Mike Perry, a florist who won clients using WhenU, a service that placed pop-up ads on related sites (including, perhaps, competitors'). But in January, a U.S. district court judge granted a preliminary injunction against WhenU in a case brought by 1-800-Contacts, citing potential trademark infringement. Then AOL announced that its new software would allow users to remove programs like WhenU's from their computers. "I'll be following the situation closely," says Perry.
