Critically Acclaimed IMAX®3D Co-Production from Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX "Breathtaking, extraordinary and awe-inspiring!" - Access Hollywood "'Hubble 3D' truly dazzles." - Associated Press "An awesome 3D documentary." - Entertainment Weekly LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX)(TSX:IMX), and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Hubble 3D will expand to additional IMAX® theatres on August 20th and will play for a special limited time engagement. The film, which initially debuted on March 19th and has launched in 55 domestic and 15 international IMAX locations thus far, has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Hubble 3D has grossed more than $14 million in box office since it opened earlier this year. "Thanks to our wonderful partners at Warner Bros. and NASA, Hubble 3D offered us the opportunity to take audiences on an astounding, immersive journey – from the thundering launch into space to witness first-hand the astronauts' mastery at performing 'brain surgery' on Hubble, all the way to the outer edges of our universe in groundbreaking flythroughs," said Producer/Director Toni Myers. "We are gratified that the film was so well received during its initial launch, and we are very excited that more people will have the opportunity to learn about Hubble's amazing discoveries." "We are thrilled with the success of Hubble 3D and the positive response to the film from critics and movie-goers alike," said Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. "Based upon the initial reaction, we knew it was essential for us to bring the film to more movie-goers around the country. We're confident new audiences will also be awe-struck by these images and the immersive quality of IMAX 3D, and we anticipate this title will play well for years to come." "This is the summer of Leonardo DiCaprio at IMAX theatres – with the enormous success of Inception and now the expansion of Hubble to additional sites across the country," said Greg Foster, President and Chairman, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "We are fortunate he lent his tremendous talent as the narrator, and we are proud that Hubble 3D contributes to the great legacy of IMAX space films." Through the power of IMAX 3D, Hubble 3D enables moviegoers to journey through distant galaxies to explore the grandeur and mysteries of our celestial surroundings, and accompany space-walking astronauts as they attempt some of the most difficult and important tasks in NASA's history. The film offers an inspiring and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope's legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves. Narrated by three-time Academy Award® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, the documentary adventure "Hubble 3D" reunites the "Space Station 3D" filmmaking team led by producer and director Toni Myers. Director of photography James Neihouse also served as the astronaut crew trainer. Graeme Ferguson, IMAX co-founder and pioneer producer of many IMAX space films, is the executive producer, and Judy Carroll, the film's associate producer. The music is composed by Micky Erbe and Maribeth Solomon. "Hubble 3D" is an IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures production, in cooperation with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Hubble 3D will also play in IMAX (2D) in various locations and will continue to debut at other IMAX locations in the months to come. As of August 20th, the following IMAX theatres will feature Hubble 3D:
