2006 price change: -32.7%
SanDisk makes flash memory chips used in everything from digital cameras to MP3 players and USB storage devices. Slowing growth in the memory chip market, along with a build-up of inventories, has hurt the company’s stock in 2006.
2007 outlook: Market research firm IDC doesn’t expect conditions for the flash memory market to improve much anytime soon - it’s predicting a stagnant market in 2007. But despite slowing demand, SanDisk sales are rapidly growing. Revenue growth for 2007 is forecast at 28 percent. And while 2006 was a down year, SanDisk shares have nearly quadrupled over the past four years.
