Online ad sales are climbing, but Yahoo isn’t celebrating. The search company has struggled to find focus – so much so that an executive wrote a memo, called the Peanut Butter Manifesto, that said the company is spreading its resources too thinly. Shares have tumbled while its top rival Google has thrived. And even after a big management shakeup, some investors are calling for more changes at the top.
2007 outlook: Widely respected CFO Susan Decker is now in line to take over for chief executive Terry Semel. But that hasn’t been enough to boost the stock. Still, the company is No. 2 in search – something not to overlook – and more management changes could give the stock a shot in the arm, as could some key acquisitions.
