Martha on the market
Domestic diva Stewart plans to sell her longtime home in Westport, Conn.
By Les Christie, CNNMoney.com staff writer

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Martha Stewart's long-time home in the exclusive coastal community of Westport, Conn., has been put up for sale. It's listed by Williams Raveis Real Estate at an asking price of a cool $8.995 million.

The Stewart home is a comparatively minor masterpiece, with just nine rooms, three of them bedrooms, and two full baths. The 1805 colonial has about 3,168 square feet of space.

It does come with more than four acres of property and is loaded with features including a heated swimming pool, barn and separate guest quarters, as well as central air, skylights and gardens landscaped to a fare-thee-well.

Still, the lot is not even waterfront property. Zillow.com, the Web site that provides on-line estimates of what houses are worth, appraises the property at less than $2.4 million.

Homebuyers on more modest budgets can consider buying in the Cary, North Carolina development that offers houses based on some of Stewart's homes. Properties in the Twin Lakes development, a partnership between KB Home and Stewart, start at $220,000 for 1,550 square feet and top out at $550,000 for 4,000 square feet.
