Bank Of America Corporation (down $0.55 to $53.26, Charts) announced it plans to permanently reduce its securities holdings by at least $100 billion in coming years, Chief Financial Officer Alvaro de Molina said Thursday, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

Boston Scientific Corporation (up $0.88 to $16.02, Charts), the medical device maker, posted earnings that beat expectations by 2 cents according to Briefing.com.

ebay Inc (up $2.00 to $30.49, Charts) reported better than expected results, as shares of the company gained sharply in late-session trade.

The Coca-Cola Company (up $0.95 to $44.91, Charts) reported better than expected profits Thursday, helped by international sales in Brazil, China and Russia.

Eli Lilly and Company (down $0.76 to $57.49, Charts) worked through medical societies, claimed three National Institute of Health doctors in the New England Journal of Medicine, to improperly influence standards for treating a blood infection called sepsis, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Sony Corp (down $0.59 to $39.68, Charts) slashed its profit forecast for 2006 and 2007 by 62 percent Thursday, blaming the recent recall of its batteries by laptop makers and weakness in its gaming division.

Walgreen Co. (down $0.33 to $43.85, Charts) announced it won't match Wal-Mart's promotional drug pricing program that offers $4 generic prescriptions.
