The remainder of the list, compiled by the National Retail Federation and American Express, was a mix of online and old-fashioned brick and mortar stores. Following Amazon (Charts) is Nordstrom (Charts), L.L. Bean, Overstock.com and Lane Bryant. Others in the top ten include Boscov's, Kohl's (Charts), REI, Land's End and Macy's. "Consumers are beginning to demand more from retailers and are making conscious decisions about where to shop based on their expectations for good service," National Retail Federation's President Tracy Mullin said in a statement. The survey said customers expected the highest degree of customer service out of restaurants, followed by specialty stores and department stores.
