BlackBerry's Pearl goes white

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A new white version of the hit BlackBerry Pearl phone will be released Monday, according to maker Research In Motion.

The original black Pearl was released in September 2006 with a small trackball built in, a change in navigation from previous BlackBerrys. The phone has helped RIM in its aim to cross over from business users to consumers.

RIM's (Charts) Mark Guibert, VP of Corporate Marketing, said in a statement that the phone marked a good compromise between price and functionality, with an emphasis on style and user experience.

"We are delighted by the immediate success of the BlackBerry Pearl in the market and we are pleased to build on this momentum with the addition of another stunning color and finish," he added.

The new white Pearl is now available in the U.S. exclusively from T-Mobile.
