Urban Outfitters
Analysts set expectations too low--a rarity these days--for the Philadelphia based retailer, which sells teen-oriented apparel and home accessories through its flagship brand. Urban Outfitters, which also owns clothing retailers Anthropologie and Free People, increased revenues by 30% this quarter to $454 million and boosted same-store sales by 13%. A great deal of the company's success stems from CEO Glen Senk's management strategies; increased efficiency at existing stores helped profits grow 79%. The chain, which did sales of $1.5 billion last year, intends to open 45 new locations in 2008.
