Sharon Bennett and Evan Wooton are diversifying their doggy offerings. When the co-owners of Premier Pet Products won the SBA award in 2003, they were in the midst of acquiring a dog toy and apparel company. Last year, they bought a liver-biscuit treat production facility in California. The bottom-line results: In the past five years, Premier Pet Products' annual revenues have doubled and now total close to $20 million.

Premier's core business is designing and manufacturing behavioral training products for cats and dogs. Bennett started the company in 1989 out of her home, where she made pet clothing by hand. Wooton came on board in 1999 as president and a co-owner.
