Los Angeles: A fixer-upper in a short sale
Location: San Gabriel, Calif.
Price: $169,000
Bedrooms/baths: 1/1
Square feet: 530

A single-family home for under $170,000 is a rarity in expensive Los Angeles, but this one is definitely in need of some TLC.

The house is in San Gabriel, 11 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, near many retailers and commercial businesses.

The tiny Spanish Colonial home was built in 1937 and is being sold in a short sale. However, it's also being sold as-is and needs a lot of work, according to the listing broker, Andy Bencosme. For that reason, it's being sold for cash, no financing is available.
