WHAT BUSINESS TRAVELERS REALLY DO !
By Erick Schonfeld

(FORTUNE Magazine) – LIFE on the road can be trying. After suffering through three client meetings, you return to your hotel room and finally have a moment to yourself. Do you change into a swimsuit and stroke a few laps in the pool? No. More likely you kick off the leather pinching your feet, dive into the mini-bar, sprawl out on the bed, and tune in The Simpsons. A new survey by Novotel New York, a hotel in midtown Manhattan, finds that business guests are a sedentary lot. Some 55% explore the minibar, while 40% like to just veg out and watch TV. Calling home is a top priority -- 57% say they ring the spouse and kids every day. And exercise? While 71% of those surveyed maintain that gym facilities are important in deciding where they stay, only 16% say that they are likely to work out during their free time. --E.S.
