THIS WILL DRIVE YOU HEALTHY
By Mark D. Fefer

(FORTUNE Magazine) – You're running late. You have a flight to catch. Your mental state is perilous. Who ya gonna call? Mobile Psychological Services, that's who. The service (based in Manhattan, of course) will pick you up in a specially appointed, unmarked van, drive you to the airport, say, and provide therapy en route. Psychologists Ursula Strauss and Shelley Lennox started their mobile practice in April. They cater mostly to Wall Street types who want to fit therapy into their hectic daily schedules. Some patients pay the $175 fee even if they have no particular destination. A few enjoy their hourlong session with one of Mobile's six counselors curbside, while others want the driver to cruise the city streets. For lengthier trips -- from, say, New Haven to New York's J.F.K. airport -- there's a $50 surcharge. On the other hand, notes Dr. Strauss, "if we get stuck in traffic, we don't charge extra. That's kind of an extra perk." And in Manhattan, a real bargain.
