(FORTUNE Magazine) – Nikon's new Coolpix 775 point-and-shoot digital camera is a marvel of big-picture quality in a small, lightweight package that's easy to carry around. Although it lacks some of the more advanced features of higher-end Nikon digital cameras, its two-megapixel imaging chip, 3X zoom lens, and automatic exposure settings allow even novices to capture excellent shots time after time. The 775 has a rechargeable battery that lasts longer than an hour, even with continuous use of the 1.5-inch color LCD display. Once the pictures are snapped, Nikon makes it especially easy to transfer them to a PC or Mac through a USB port, or even to an online photo album. It's the best novice digital camera we've seen so far, and a good value.
