Fashion is his strongest suit
By Nadira A. Hira, Fortune Magazine

(Fortune Magazine) -- From his red tie to his brilliantly socked toes, Duncan Quinn is a fanatical sartorialist. The private-equity attorney turned men's wear designer of the moment has dressed everyone from Hugh Grant and Green Day to LeBron James, and duncan quinn duds are sold in New York and Japan, with a new shop set to open on Melrose in L.A.

He's also just launched an "outbound" service - where tailors make house calls to fit a suit (starting at $3,500). We caught up with Quinn on the roof of Manhattan's SoHo House.

  • Days on the road: 107.
  • Favorite destination: Dinner on an island in the middle of the Zambezi, watching the sun go down as the lions yawn themselves silly.
  • Favorite way to fly: Virgin Atlantic upper class, before the new cubicles. In case Richard Branson cares, I liked it much better then. It was more intimate and glamorous. Now it's a little more business in the front, party in the back, when it used to be the other way around.
  • Plane read: Ask the Dust, by John Fante, and Perfume, by Patrick Suskind.
  • Packing tricks: I fold my suits inside out, and I haven't carried anything other than hand luggage in ten years.
  • Won't leave home without: Nike running sneakers.
  • Favorite hotel: Chateau Marmont in L.A. It's quaint, and it has character--a prerequisite for me.
  • Biz lunch: Le Coq d'Argent in London, on top of the Number One Poultry building.
  • Shopping fix: Daikanyama in Tokyo for very cool T-shirts.
  • Favorite wheels: 1963 Ferrari 330 GT America.
  • Nightcap: Highland Park with water, no ice.
