AMES, Iowa, Jan. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Workiva (NYSE: WK), creator of the Wdesk cloud-based productivity platform for enterprises, ranked number 4 on the 10 Best Large Workplaces in Technology list by Great Place to Work® and Fortune Magazine. The recognition is based on Workiva employees' assessments of camaraderie, career development, financial and non-financial rewards and the strength of the company's leadership team.

"We are so proud that Workiva has chosen Iowa to grow its innovative technology company," said Iowa Governor Terry Branstad. "Workiva's success is a testament to the strong tech sector in our state and the robust talent pipeline that exists here. After several visits to Workiva's headquarters – where their company values shine through – it is no surprise that they have garnered a spot on Fortune's 10 Best Large Workplaces in Technology."

"Workiva is growing at a rapid pace due in large part to its focus on creating technology solutions with inspired, engaged and passionate employees," said Brian Waller, President of the Technology Association of Iowa. "Everyone I talk to who visits Workiva's Ames office wishes that they worked there too."

"At Workiva, we are progressive in everything we do, from how we invent software solutions to how we serve our customers to how we treat our employees," said Matt Rizai, Workiva Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

"When we founded Workiva, we knew that we could only be successful in creating highly sophisticated software if we invested in our employees first," added Rizai. "Our culture is built on close-knit teams of people who truly care about each other and our customers. Collaboration is the secret to our success."

Workiva also ranked #6 on the 50 Best Workplaces for Camaraderie list in December 2014 by Great Place to Work and Fortune Magazine.

"The perks and benefits the best tech companies are known for are just what outsiders looking in get dazzled by," says Chinwe Onyeagoro, a business strategy expert and EVP of U.S. Consulting at Great Place to Work. "This can be a false positive of sorts. These companies are great because they invest in trust. They stand on trust. They use trust as a competitive differentiator. They know that to be great you have to invest in better relationships – not in more things. Simply investing in this will not create a Great Place to Work."

The Best Workplaces in Technology ranking is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work certified organizations.

About The Best Workplaces for Technology

The Best Workplaces in Technology is a "best of the best" ranking. The winners come from the universe of companies with published Great Place to Work® Reviews, meaning they are serious about creating great workplaces and comfortable with transparency. Of nearly 600 companies with published Reviews, 155 companies identified themselves as being in the technology sector. More than 48,000 employees at these companies were randomly selected to complete Great Place to Work's Trust Index© Employee Survey. Employees answered questions about how frequently they experience the behaviors that create a great workplace, considering how the company stacks up on career development, risk-taking, work-life balance, financial and non-financial rewards, transparent communications, business vision, workplace camaraderie and other factors. Results from the survey are highly reliable, having a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 5 percent or less. The total score for each company is based entirely upon this employee feedback. We have created three ranked lists of 10 large (1,000 or more employees), 10 medium (100 to 999 employees) and 10 small (99 or fewer employees) companies with the highest employee ratings.
