Katie Couric boosts CBS Web traffic
We don't yet know if new anchor Katie Couric will take "The CBS Evening News" out of last place in the TV ratings after the buzz of her debut, but the new anchor is already boosting website traffic. The webcast of Couric's debut show doubled traffic to CBSNews.com, CBS Digital president Larry Kramer told PaidContent.org. The webcast was marred by glitches, however: Mac users couldn't view the broadcast at all, and traffic was so heavy that the video was choppy for some users. Still, it's a hopeful sign for the new news program: Younger audiences that eschew TV for the Internet may be willing to tune in to Katie online.
