Lufkin Industries is all pumped up about oil. Founded in 1902, Lufkin is primarily an oilfield-equipment supplier, manufacturing key old-economy goods such as pumping units and foundry castings.
In addition, the company refurbishes and sells used equipment, and provides the necessary follow-up service and repair.
But Lufkin isn't just about oil. It also has a large power transmission unit, which manufactures and services gearboxes for large-scale industrial customers in the power and steel industries. Finally, a third business unit makes and services highway trailers.
