These delicate drinking glasses are made by rolling together tiles of jewel-toned glass and then blowing them into a cup shape - a technique that gives each a unique pattern. Artists Justin Parker, 34, and Andi Kovel, 37, both have taught glass blowing at various universities and founded Esque, based in Portland, Ore., nine years ago. They create functional art such as ice buckets, lamps, and wine carafes. Besides making most of its products from recycled glass, Esque uses wind power to run its furnaces and reuses glass waste produced during the blowing process.
