Why we chose it: The mid-career program offered through MIT's business school began more than 70 years ago as a tool to provide leading engineers with the management skills to run industrial companies. Now called the Sloan Fellows Program in Innovation and Global Leadership, this one- or two-year executive MBA curriculum attracts upper-level management executives and business owners from around the world. Outside the classroom, student-led groups all across the campus also expose participants to entrepreneurship, and it turns out, a significant number of EMBA students find that they are more interested in starting their own ventures than remaining in a corporate environment.
