The Trailblazer's sales have tumbled from a high of 283,500 in 2004 to just 134,600 last year.
It's a mid-size truck-based SUV that competes directly against vehicles like the Ford Explorer. It's a segment of the market that's been hit particularly hard by high gas prices.
That's because customers who used to buy Trailblazers and Explorers can be served just as well by car-based vehicles like the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and General Motors' own GMC Acadia. Those vehicles get better fuel economy and generally have a better ride and handling.
