Robert LoCascio's most prized possession is a faded 1993 Ikea couch. When LoCascio's first company, Ikon, flopped, he lived on that couch in his office for two years to save money while he launched his second, more successful venture, LivePerson, which provides online customer-support services to businesses. "That first company's failure enabled me to stay alive during some very tough times in this company, like the dot-com crash," LoCascio says. "It's when you fail that you really start to think and learn about yourself."
