Lisa with her daughter, Celsey
I am a divorced mom with a wonderful daughter. Her father is not around and we don't get child support. I am in college full time and work full time as an elderly caregiver.
I love my job and my client is like family, but I think I am going to have to quit soon. I only make $8 an hour and have no benefits with this job. I am not on assistance of any kind.
I live 20 miles from college and work, but cannot afford to move closer because of higher rent. My daughter and I do not go out to movies or out to eat anymore. We buy a gallon of milk twice a month on paydays. Meat is a thing of the past. I used to be a health food junkie, but can no longer afford that luxury.
I am trying desperately to hold things together long enough to graduate in December '08. I am so scared of not being able to afford to get through this year. I am currently looking for a job closer to me doing anything. It breaks my heart to leave my client, but I can't afford to stay there, and unfortunately a factory job will pay better.
