Ease of use: Intuitive and comfortable. ("Well balanced," said pro cameraman Bob Leak.) Extras like Face Detection, for focusing, are handy.
Video quality: Remarkably sharp for a low-priced high-def model. Leak was particularly impressed with how it performed in dimmer lighting.
The big picture: A great camcorder for the money. The only real nit is the limited recording time on DVDs, but the Sony does also support an 8GB flash stick.
