"I don't think they'd do the same if we called her OS X," says Bil, a software architect who has been using Microsoft products since the 1980s. The couple had settled on Dev Orion (initials: D.O.S.) for a boy's name. But if they had a girl, they decided that she'd need to be an upgrade. Hence, a baby Vista was born. The 2-year-old's middle name, Avalon, is also geek-inspired - it was once the code name for another piece of Microsoft technology.
