Condoleezza Rice

After a stint as national security advisor under President George W. Bush, in 2001, Condoleezza Rice became the first African-American woman ever to hold the office of U.S. secretary of state.
Now, with her historic and admittedly controversial tenure in that post concluded, she's returned to academia as a Hoover Institution fellow and political science professor at Stanford University, where she previously served as provost.
