Mr. Freeze
Location:
Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Tex.; Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Mo.
First installed: 1998

Based on one of Batman's nemeses, this ride starts from Mr. Freeze's hideout: A gothic ice-cream factory. The experience is similar to that of the Speed ride at NASCAR Café, with the cars lunging back halfway through to take riders along the same hair-raising trajectory in reverse.

What's unique about this ride is its two-train system - an unusual feature on a roller coaster that does not have a circular track. For Mr. Freeze, Premier designed a system for shifting the returning train onto a different track to make way for the departing train. "That means a lot more people can experience the ride," Seay says.

NEXT: A cinematic coaster
