Leading the creative class

Like parents, successful managers know from experience that actions speak louder than words. Fittingly, Walk the Walk conveys this message by anecdote rather than by exhortation; for instance, it includes General Norman Schwarzkopf's story about a paratroop commander who was afraid to jump from planes, a situation his men couldn't fail to notice.

Concise and readable, Deutschman's business book demonstrates the importance of leading by example no matter how hard that may seem. Although it serves up a familiar parade of generals, statesmen, coaches and business leaders, their stories are well chosen and deftly told. The result is entirely enjoyable and, at times, even inspirational.
