Why I Launched Here

I've lived in several other areas of the country, and you couldn't drag me away from here kicking and screaming. It's the best place I've lived.

We started our business about six years ago, and what attracted us to Durham was that we found a brand-new office space that we were able to have fitted to suit us. It was about 25 to 35 larger than most of the comparable properties that we saw in surrounding areas, and the same price. The new digs helped with morale, hiring employees and every aspect of the business. It also gave us room to grow.

The Triangle Area has been very fortunate and blessed because the economy hasn't come to a crashing halt like other areas. We've got a lot of things that people want -- the high-tech industry is here, the pharmaceutical companies are here. We've got a really well-rounded economic base.

We started off with two employees and now we have 14. Come the first of the year, we'll probably be adding at least four employees and maybe more -- depending on the business climate, of course. -Maya Payne Smart
