Investors didn't show the Southern convenience store operator any hospitality: Its stock spiraled downward over the course of the year, due largely to declining sales and profits.
The Pantry was hurt by its location in the hard-hit Southeast region, as well as by shrinking gasoline margins and a tobacco tax. The company hired a new CEO in the fall, but so far the regime change hasn't boosted shares.
