6. Gilead Sciences
100 Fastest-Growing rank: 98
Years on the list: 3

Gilead Sciences has made our list for the last three years by selling some of the world's most popular HIV drugs. In the U.S. alone, 75% of HIV patients use at least one of Gilead's antiretroviral treatments. Sales of the company's best-selling drug Atripla, the first once-daily fixed-dose treatment for HIV, more than doubled from 2007 to 2009, driven by demand in the U.S. and European markets.

The company partnered with 13 Indian firms to develop generic versions of its HIV drugs to reach poor areas in 95 countries. Gilead's research and medicine portfolio also includes treatments for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
